Finally it's time for Sweden to get a limited edition of Absolut. ABSOLUT SVEA is the name on the bottle that is designed and dedicated to the Swedish domestic market. The effort to find the right partner that felt interesting and which had its own expression was long and resulted in a collaboration with Fred Soderberg, one of Sweden visiting the most interesting artists.

"Our recent special editions has been very appreciated by consumers around the world and have become collectors' items. Now we want to make a trip back to their home country for Absolut, and create something at home that reinforces the origin. The effort to find the right partner that felt interesting enough and lasted long seemed to run out of artist Fredrik Söderberg. Cooperation with Fred feels like clockwork, when he created a story, mystery and a unique expression of ABSOLUT SVEA "says Anne Palmqvist, Brand Manager for ABSOLUT Vodka.

As always when the ABSOLUTELY working with creative partners, faith is strong, not to create limitations or too many frames to keep within. The only mandate was to interpret the "Swedish character". Fred landed in an understanding of how we in Sweden are constantly characterized by large fluctuations between seasons.

"It's been interesting to work with such a great player and to be as present during the whole process from my ideas and sketches to see them realized in the press and the production of bottles in Limmared. It's been a long process and it really feels like we've found the right expression. I have often in my art various references and links to the Old Norse tradition, the approach seemed natural to incorporate the ABSOLUT SVEA "says Fredrik Söderberg.

The front and back represent summer and winter solstice. Around the bottle, you can follow a story line that runs from spring to winter, and just like in the old Norse sagas, the bottle is framed by the Midgard Serpent. The details of the different meanings the viewer is taken on a journey through the Swedish mentality.

The apple is one of the oldest fruit and a natural choice in Swedish everyday life and an expression of Swedish late summer. Ginger Spice as a long and often used in baked goods and is associated with the dark ages on July The combination of these two ingredients gives a warmth and spiciness from the ginger, which meets the acidity and freshness of the apple taste.

It’s just your regular bottle of Absolut, but the limited edition offering now comes in a nifty, Kiwi as bro Huffer-inspired case. The partnership continues Absolut’s approach of joining forces with style icons around the world and puts Huffer alongside the likes of Tom Ford and Andy Warhol. But it’s a big move for Absolut, a Swedish SOE that was purchased by Pernod Ricard in 2008. The company has always used global advertising campaigns (from TBWA\ Worldwide in New York), which makes New Zealand just the second country to be allowed a regional campaign (China being the other).

“We’re beyond proud to be involved with this collaboration and to partner with an international brand like Absolut,” says Steve Dunstan, Huffer company director. No doubt about it, it will also be getting some great mileage out of the new association with New Zealand Fashion Week just around the corner, of which Absolut are a major sponsor.

While New Zealand is Absolut’s smallest international market, Dave Poole, Pernod Ricard head of marketing, reckons we’re pretty damn cutting edge here in moa-land.

“We’re almost the Team New Zealand of vodka. Getting sign-off from the global company was a massive effort that took ages. Having TBWA/Whybin in New Zealand was essential to getting any regional marketing and advertising off the ground, and together we’ve done an amazing job. We did a lot of research with Kiwis and asked ‘what’s missing between vodka and you?’ They wanted the big global brand to tip their hats to them; they wanted to get a Kiwi message across and feel that Absolut cared about them.”

As for the partnership itself, Huffer is an iconic Kiwi brand, well-regarded by the average, slightly polished bloke to the high-brow, high-street fashionista. Or, as Poole puts it “a brand that was accessible yet aspirational”.

“We started with an idea and we wanted a New Zealand feel and pack, rang up Huffer and went from there. It’s a perfect fit, world famous in New Zealand.”

1000 dozen packs and bottles will be available for a limited time through retail chains like Super Liquor and Liquorland, and there’s another run for duty-free stores.

The bottles is released in 2010 in celebration of Joyce Boutique's 40th anniversary. 700 copies were commissioned, featuring one of the artwork of the much revered Chinese modern art master. Mr Fanzhi Zeng. The bottle is a 750ml flavorless Absolut Vodka, featuring a plastic wrap up to the neck of the bottle, depicting Mr. Zeng's painting. Underneath the wrap, the bottle is devoit of the classic blue label, while preserving the original LO smith emblem. The bottle has no bar code, either underneath or on top on the plastic wrap.

The official release date of the bottle is December 4th, 2010, Saturday. 3 retail outlets were used to launch this bottle. Joyce Boutique in Admiralty, Hong Kong, Joyce Boutique in Central Hong Kong, and the Joyce Boutique in Tsim Sa Tsui, Kowloon. Among the 3 outlets, The Admiralty branch is the premier launch location for this bottle, featuring a Absolut themed bar, complete with bartenders serving drinks. While the official numbers of the bottles kept on each location can not be disclosed, The admiralty branch has roughly 200 bottles in stock, while the rest of the 2 branches has a significantly lower bottle count. The bottle is sold out in the first 3 days of its launch.

This event was held in Singapore at Fabrika on the 26th Jan 2011. For early bird purchase, you only paid $199 SGD for 2 bottles of Absolut Blue 750ml and you could get a bottle of 72 Bian for free. In Sweden people have been drinking vodka (aqua vitae), "water of life" - since the end of the 15th century. Originally, it was taken for medicinal purposes to protect against diseases like the plagus and gout. At that time, taking a dram, a nip or a tot, meant drinking as much as you could swallow in a single gulp, in much the same way as you ate a spoonful of soup. To celebrate the release, Chinese top fashion photographer Chen Man created a series of avant-garde photo artworks for this limited edition. Absolut 72 Bian is available in the China market from August 2010. The name Absolut 72 Bian was inspired by the ancient Chinese mythical figure, the Monkey King. Bian means “transform” in Chinese, and refers to the 72 transformations made by Monkey King during the novel Journey to the West. Gao Yu created surreal, cartoon-like features to this classical figure to express a unique and distinctive fusion of traditional and modern art. He gave a traditional Chinese panda the ability to transform himself into the Monkey King amidst smoky red clouds. At the focal point of the design is the words ‘Absolut’ and, in Chinese, ‘72 Bian’ written in distinctive Chinese red reflecting the style of the modern culture. “Monkey King is the ancient mythical Chinese character that people of my age grew up with”, Gao Yu said about his design, “His unrestrained character, boldness and creativity inspired us to explore our potentials. Moreover, the ability to morph into 72 transformations depicts perfectly the character of innovation. By integrating a panda in the costume play of the Monkey King in the design of this limited edition, I was able to effectively bring together the traditional Chinese elements and the innovative brand value of Absolut Vodka.” Chinese well-known fashion photographer Chen Man developed a series of visual pieces exclusively for the release of Absolut 72 Bian and its four cocktails. Absolut vodka has launched a new limited edition, Flavor of the Tropics, at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes. The new product will be exclusive to the global duty-free channel and will be launched in Europe and the Americas in January 2010 and rolled out to the rest of the world in February. The Flavor of the Tropics variety features the natural sweetness of orange, mango, lychee and melon, with noted of pineapple and berries, and comes in a collector’s bottle with bright orange and deep red highlights. The new Absolut flavour will be supported by a full-scale marketing campaign including advertising, in-store activities and tastings, moving media and installations. The Absolut Company global travel retail director Anders Olsson said: “We are extremely excited about this unique launch. It’s the first time that we have the privilege of introducing a brand new, innovative flavour exclusively to our travelling consumers, who are always on the lookout for something new and thrilling—something that can’t be found back home. After seeing so many Absolut Red Masquerade 50ml appeared in ebay for sale, I've decided to spend time and effort in making 1 in which I think is very close to the original design.

Mine doesn't come with a zip but overall I am very happy with it and I've sold the 1st one on ebay for 25,50euro to a collector from Spain by the name of Carbayon.
